Anne, I like thinning th eground floor and adding the overhangs on the second floor. I think the slivers idea could be driven further. Allow views into, and maybe all the way thru the buildings.(see posting on my blog). The volums are currently not monolithic enough for me. Chnaging hte wall material on th ecorners is hopefully only a sketch-up result on not your intent? I think the window idea has some merrit, but I do agree with you loosing the green screen. Could they be replaced with PVs?
I am not planning to change materials on the corners, although I am still wondering about the brick corner detail. I am working on developing a relief for the brick as I think the brick should have some character.
Anne, grab a set of jenga blocks and stack them around cute and obtuse angles. The way they are interlocking with gaps might infer the treatment for the rest of your walls.
I think the "sawtoothed" type of pattern you would get with the jenga bricks could be some pretty attractive and articulate brick work... miniature slivers!

Anne, I cannot post on my blog right now. I'm trying tomorrow again. Sorry.
